Borrowing against a French property paid outright but resident in the UK

I went for an initial chat quickly in one of the Barclays branches in Maidenhead and they mentioned that they can do something. anyone got any ideas as we dont want to sell up the french property immediately as it still needs work on it and we need to buy in the UK. thanks in advance.
