Thanks all,
We don't have seperate bills, all of our pay kind of goes into a kitty when we get paid at the end of the month, and this pays the bills, whatever is left over is used for food shopping, etc.
We don't go out ever, so that is not an expense, i don't go to the hairdressers, i don't buy clothes, and neither does OH, and if we do, we go to Tesco, or Asda.
I smoke rolling tobacco, which i spend £5 a week on, but OH does drink a couple of bottles of wine, so that is fine.
Giving up at the moment is not an option, it is the only way i manage to keep my head under control.
The problems started when we bought the house, we were renting, and paying £70pw, we are now paying £600 per month, though this does include insurance, and stuff. (i said that we couldn't afford it, but OH wanted to get onto the property ladder while we still could)
We started off with credit cards because we were getting married, and hotels would only take a credit card deposit, and it kind of got out of control.
Thankfully we have no kids, so i don't have to worry about that side of it.
It hasn't helped that i have recently gone from weekly to monthly pay either, so we have constantly struggled to make ends meet over the Christmas and New Year which has kind of put us in a worse position. We have not defaulted on any payments...yet, but i am just very very sick of the situation.0 -
The trouble is, if he carries on ignoring the problem it will get worse, and then there will definitely be CCJs waiting in the future.
A stitch in time saves nine, as they say, but he has to see that he needs to take action NOW!
Is he in a union at work? They should advise over the issue with debt and losing his job. Though if it's that low paid, I can't see it being a real problem. Could't he just transfer out of the court into another department?Retired in 2015.

OH is currently applying for another job within the department, which if he gets it will take him up to £25K, so we will be sorted then, but he goes to pieces in interviews, and lets himself down.
I really hope he gets this job, he has the experience, and would do really well, and i have a feeling that he would much prefer to be earning more than the wife LOL!
Thanks everyone, i feel better now just for talking my problems through.0
