looking to relocate for a new job

when applying for a job in an area that's some distance from where you are currently living is it worth putting on the covering letter for a job application something like "Though I am not currently living in xxxxxxxxx I am willing to relocate for the right position" or something similar, or better ot leave it off the letter?
TIA

Yeah i believe it best too! I was turned down for a job once because of the distance from my home to the workplace. I had my own transport, but another person who had applied lived just around the corner from the work place. This meant that if their car broke down for example, they would always be able to catch a bus or get a taxi, where in my case i wouldn't have been able too!
Give them as much info and also inform them that you have been round to the local area and had a few veiwings, just to show them you are really interested.:j Egypt 10th May - Here we come!!!:j0 -
Ta for that! Is there a particular wording or turn of phrase that you used, or someone you know has used, that would prove to be useful to put on an application?0

My best advice would be to put in the covering letter that you have local links - long standing close friends or family, either would do.
Often people think that they are willing to uproot themselves but then don't after an offer has been made. This makes employers not that keen to offer jobs to people outside the area.
It's a known fact in recruitment that if people have a network already in the area they are proposing to move to, that it's more likely they will take a job up if offered.0 -
Another reason that it's important to mention relocation is that companies sometimes pay towards relocation, but only if they've agreed to it in advance. I've known people to relocate for a job then try and claim back expenses afterwards only to be told it should have been mentioned at least at the interview.
