Customer Service roles in Banks

I am interesting in applying for a post with Santander. I have been put off applying in the past because of the following question:

As part of the training for this role, you will be required to attend a residential training course. Are you happy to do this?

Now, does anyone know if they really run a residential course, and if so, for how long? I am a single parent so i am trying to think ahead.

Thanks in advance.

if they say they run it, assume they do, why not ring them and ask for length, ?
  • why would they make it up?
Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.
  • Pop into your local branch, I'm sure the staff would be happy to answer any questions you might have and put your mind at rest. Good luck, hope you get the job x

The Halifax was a week in York, if you lived more than 1.5hours travel away they allowed you to stay overnight.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • Thanks for the helpful responses. I have applied anyway, but i will definitely enquire further.

Think that is the best thing as no point hypothetical obstacles getting in your way (although would be great if I could take my own advice!:rotfl:) Cross that bridge if and when you come to it.

Would say having worked in banking branch staff may not now as training formats constantly change!

You may also find that the residential course is local to you and therefore you may be able to return of an evening.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks cr1mson!!

Yes, i was wondering if it would be somewhere where over nights are actually required, or not.

I lived near the training centre of my Bank and it was only the more advanced career development type courses that that we were required to stay overnight as part of the thing was to network. Even then they were usually one night stays!

However the more standard instructional type courses we were actually not allowed to stay overnight to reduce costs!
