Can I buy iTunes things for someone else?

I was thinking about Christmas presents for my FIL and he has an iPad and multiple iPods as he has to travel away a lot, can I buy books, films etc on iTunes for him for his device or if I buy it, does it only come through for my device?
Just keep swimming!

yep just select the little drop down next to the price and you have the option to 'gift the item'. (you can't with books)
another (perhaps better) option is to buy him an itunes gift card (see this thread for offers) that way he can use the money in iTunes and also the mac app store (if he has a mac), but he can buy what he wants.0 -
yep when you gift you give the person's email address and they will be sent a link to download the stuff you gifted them0

That was a new one on me, they think of everything.
If you go for the voucher option there are often deals out there offering a £25 voucher for £20.0
