What is the average pay/salary for a registered nurse?

I am talking annual salary I searched google and asked someone but it seems to have all different answers.

One site says 16k-18k gross (seems low for a nurse)

Another says £23kpa (about right I think)

And the person I asked said £12 an hour.

Is it more likley to be closer to 18k (gross) or 23k

About £800 a week for a trained one.

  • It depends.

Work in NHS and you'll start at the bottom of band 5 on £21,176 (obviously this is for a newly qualified)
Private sector usually a fair bit more.

Don't know where I want to be when I am trained tbh. 21k sounds good though. So the 16-18k is more than likley wrong?

    yes i would think so
  • 16 - 18k is definitely wrong. That's more like the wages of a level 3 HCA

the scale rates are the minimum

Nusres still get enhanced shift pay and overtime rates so can earn significanly more.

You start at the bottom of band 5 on the table and the go up one step per year, with in the band automatically. You can't get into the next band without getting a promotion, if you a dedicated and good you may get into band 7 in 5 to 10 years.

But the private sector pays more to make up for the poorer benefits, such as pension and maternity pay etc. So when people moan about NHS pay, they forget the huge amount of annual leave, brilliant maternity rights (transferable between trusts, so you don't have to work a minimum period of a year as you would in the private sector), excellent pension.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?
