setting up an accountancy business

  • I am in a similar position.
I am part-qualified ACCA and i am thinking of offering bookkeeping services.
I have called ACCA to see where i stand on this and they said it is dine to preapre work up to trial balance stage at which point a certified accountant would have to file the year end accounts, tax etc...

DEFINITELY a no-no on providing full accountancy services.
Bodies like the ACCA repeat time and time again in your studies about your duties to be honest, professional and transparent. It is important and as such you should be wary of offering services before you can because it will damage both your and the accountancy profession's reputation.

I also think, speaking as a part-qualified that we are not ready to file full accounts nor do we have all the practical experience to be fully up to speed with all that can be thrown at us.

Good luck on starting your business but stick to pre-trial balance accounts and you wont land yourself in any trouble.
