Magazine Subcription's Threatning letters

I'm fairly new to posting here, anyways this is a bit of a long story, but to brief it out a little, here goes:

I saw "Dinosaur Discovery" on TV back at the start of 2010 where you could build your own Skeleton Dinosaur. It was a weekly magazine, which you purchased at an introductory offer of 99p, the other issues being £5.99. You know these mags (same company done a health Build a body magazine too). If you subcribed, you were entitled to 5 free gifts, and the first 2 issues at a discount. Anyways I subscribed. They would take debit payments - Not direct debit.

Everything was fine though, I just placed them in a cupboard until every issue was there. So all good, that was until I realised they sent a couple of issues, which I never recieved. This is when the fun started

I e-mailed them regarding the missing issues, and some of the missing gifts I never got as promised either, and no response. I e-mailed a further 4 times in the next 2 months, even telling them I had logged a complaint via consumer direct, trading standards etc for their lack of after sales service. I then decided to try something... I e-mailed them with "would like to buy your magazine" in the header, and surprise surprise they e-mailed a day later giving me all the details, so the e-mail address did indeed work. I again e-mailed regarding the missing issues. Nothing, so I requested cancellation of my subscription - Nothing...... :(

Luckily though, my bank had issued a new card, and they could no longer take payments from my old card number. Boy were they quick to let me know, so I e-mailed them back telling them where they could go basically. No more magazines sent out, no more contact. All was good for almost 7 months. Then a letter comes thorugh the door 2 months ago demanding payment of £26 for an outstanding account for 4 magazines????? I was confused, because I owed them nothing. I paid for what I got, so I ignored the demand, and sent them an e-mail explaining how I'm due them nothing, but no response

Yesterday I got another one, 2 months after the first letter. Only this time, they demand payment, or claim they will send the debt off to a collection agency within 10 days. It has a slip at the bottom to enter payment details, or an address to send a cheque to. I am worried because my credit rating is flawless, and has been since I had one, and I know I am due them nothing. I try to contact them they don't answer, or respond.

What should I do????

Collection agencies have no more powers than the company themselves do. Nor will it go on your credit file, only if it went to court would it affect your credit rating.

If you get the collection agency letter tell them the debt is non-existent and they should send it back to the company for evidence. If they (sorry, when they) continue contacting you, tell them to shove it and continue with your life.

Oh, and keep the cancellation request safe -- if (but unlikely) it went to court, just submit these
