I wanna new business webspace provider

A friend of mine is using EasySpace for his business webspace and email because he inherited it from the previous owner. Unfortunately it's ill suited to his needs (and their customer service leaves much to be desired), so I was wondering which is the best (not necessarily the cheapest) professional web provider for UK business.
To give you some idea, he runs a restuarant/hotel and would like enough space to host a simple website, but to have multiple email addresses.
He'd like to transfer the domain name over to the new provider and I have read elsewhere that Easyspace will charge 50GBP to relinquish the dns... anyone have any experience of this?

50 quid for transfer?!?! Downright sham!! Should be free.
Hosting is a tricky game. Tips:
1. Stay away from '1&1', utterly incomptent organisation.
2. Stay away from oversellers (1&1 are one such company) who offer 100000GB of space for a couple of quid per month. No such thing as a free lunch, get too many visitors and service will be cancelled with no notice. Trust me.
3. Visit webhostingtalk.com and look around, many great recommendations there..
