Welcome to the forum
To be in a position to answer can you let us know the date of start of the current FiT contract on the 2.6kWp system and what size you're looking at expanding to ?

Hi ,the pv was installed in sep this year and I wish to go to 3.9 kw0

As I understand it, it's in principle possible to expand an existing system, and have it fall within the current rates.
This is if the system is under 12 months old.
You would certainly need a MCS installer to do this.
It's unlikely you'd find anyone willing to go to the effort to install 1.4kW of panels.
Can your existing inverter cope with more panels?
I'd wonder about adding on another few kW, up to the 10kW limit where the banding changes again. (4-10kW is 37p at pre-Dec-12 prices)0 -
Good point about the inverter. They tend to use inverters that are close to the power output of the panels so any major expansion would mean a new inverter. Expensive business. Having read these forums for a while It sounds that if your solar system produces significant more electric than expected, then your electric company can start to get a bit difficult. Expecting photographic evidence of meter reading etc. The only way to overcome this would be to reregister.0
