Santander vs. Experian
First time poster here, so apologies if this is in the wrong section.
My wife an I have both signed up to Experian, and both receive perfect ratings of 999.
I earn in the mid 40k's and my wife mid to late 20k's.
We both bank with Santander.
I have recently applied for a credit card with Santander and was told that a credit card was given as standard to those holding my account type. I requested a credit limit of 2k.
Computer, unfortunately, said NO.
My wife recently applied for an 8k loan with Santander to purchase a new car. We had a 25% deposit.
Once again computer said NO.
Is this a case of Santander not wanting to lend money, or are credit agencies a waste of time?
If it's the later we'll cancel our £15 monthly subscriptions.
Cheers.

its the later Im afraid, try zopa for a loanDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

You believing you both have perfect credit ratings is a waste of time. D'you honestly think that out of a total of 999 points you could possibly have a perfect score, not even a 998? The credit agencies hold the all the relevant information on you like previous registered address, payment history etc and are good for us to be able to ensure there is no wrong or credit harming information on there. Forget about your score from EX. You should do some research on this site into credit scoring. Its a very good profit making little extra that some of the CRA's use, to rinse you of your dosh. Realise that your bank will not even see a score from experian when they're considering you or your wife for CC's or loans. They will make up their own decision based on the information given by the CRA [in your case most likely Equifax] and not simply give their opinion based on a score from equifax/experian/call credit. My wife an I have both signed up to Experian, and both receive perfect ratings of 999.
No credit cards are given as "standard", you're misunderstanding the banks information.0
