Spreadsheets! I set up formulas to calculate overpayments over a year & when i change one figure, the rest of the year changes. Its good for helping to work out which ones are best paid first if u base the formulas on interest rates
1% challenge - Started Feb 2014. Cap1 card £1,073.42
1% = £10.73 0% so far0 -
If you have the space, for paperwork I have A4 lever arch files for things like "Motoring", "Gas & Elec", "Council Tax", etc. I file documents received in reverse-order i.e. most recent on top as you open the file.
For ongoing monthly budgeting and tracking spending I have a spreadsheet called, erm "Monthly Budgets"
with a page for each month.
Each page is split into two halves - the right hand half has monthly budget and left hand half is used to copy ongoing spending from online banking, which is also fed back into the monthly budget. This is so i can check I still have enough to cover fixed bills and variable spending, such as petrol as the month proceeds.
For monitoring debts, I would set up a page for each debt within your Budget spreadsheet. The page can be set up just like a basic account ledger / record to record charges, payments etc
With spreadsheets it is IMPORTANT you keep a separate secnd backup copy on a flash drive in case you hard drive fails.
Hope this helps.DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499

I'm lucky enough to have office space at home so i've a big filing cabinet with everything separated into individual files.
I used to be really un organised as had piles of letters and stuff all over the house -but when we put the office in i became a neat freak:D & it's now so much easier keeping on top of everything.x0 -
