As a thought, have you got both a P45 and a P60 from the same employer, maybe left and then gone back.
The P45 figures may be included in the P60 already.

    Try the helpline tomorrow.

I cross posted with you Nearlyrich. good advice. I'm going to go to bed and cry there. Maybe I'll sleep a bit. I feel so sick.

Hope you can get some sleep, it's all going to look better in the morning, don't get upset over income tax, although I could cry everytime I see the tax line on my payslip too..

Don't panic you can take it on paper by hand to a tax office upto 10pm on Wed night -depends on your area. there are lots of accountants on here who will help including martin's uncle. Can you post your general ball park figures for each and I will help identify the problem? If not today then asap.

I will do it tomorrow night, thank you. I need to check some figures tomorrow, and make sure I have done it right (I can;t have done!), and will appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

Go and get some sleep, you'll probably wake up in the middle of the night and realise just where the figures got mixed up.

    Take care and sleep well.

OK, I've identified something that's wrong. I had a job that started on March 27 2006, and went on till after that, but my figures off my P60/45/whatever are for until I left on 11 August 2006, so it's the wrong tax year!

How do I get a figure for just the one week that feel into the 05/06 tax year, as most of it is in 06/07??

That might begin to explain the problem.

If you started on 27 March 2006, did you get paid before 5 April 2006? If not then the P45 can be kept for completing your 2007 tax return, if you did get paid then you should have been given a 2005/06 P60 from your employer for the period from 27 March to 5 April.

    Hope that helps.

That sounds like the one, when did you get paid?

If you got paid on or after 6/4 then it belongs in 06/07.

THat's brilliant! That must be it! I'll double check when I got paid, but i'm sure it was after then as I had to fill in a form and wait to be paid. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

It was April 13 - so it goes in next year's!! THanks so much!

Wonder what else I got wrong on there????

EDIT - now it says I have overpaid £89. It's not as much as I'd hoped, but sounds much more right. AM still going to double check all ym figures. I had no idea it went on when you got paid, not on date you started work.

Any other things I should know?? Never done a SA form before (obviously!)
