Stop Mirror From Steaming Up?

Hi,

I can recall that if you clean amirror with shaving foam, it will no mist up in abthroom through the steam, etc. So I went down to Wilkinsons, got a cheap can of shaving foam and it doesn't work.

Any other suggestions?

  • Well this site suggests washing up liquid or shampoo.

    Does that work?

  • I once bought special stuff from Lakeland but kept forgetting to use it. Now I just make sure I run the cold tap for a bit if I'm filling the bath or sink, then when I run the hot it doesn't seem to steam the mirror.

Anti fog stuff you get for a car windscreen helps. Think I bought the last bottle in Tescos, don't need a lot for mirrors so lasts ages. There is also a stuff called 'Fog Off' you can get for the inside of motorbike helmets which is good.
One day I might be more organised...........

Filling the basin with cold water (before turning on the bath or shower) is meant to help.... but always forget to try it till it's too late!
  • I thought about this a bit more. Isn't trying to do something to the mirror treating the effect of the problem rather than its cause - not enough ventilation? Mind you, I live in a draughty Victorian house, so have no probs with condensation.
