Can you recommend a butchers that makes a good, tasty 'square slice' (not too fatty) - looking to buy a whole one to be brought back to Bristol on Monday (21st Nov).
The person bringing it down to Bristol is staying near Buchanan Bus station and no access to a car - though doesn't mind a walk or bus ride to get the best!

never tried their square sausage but mcgees in the savoy centre on sauchiehall street does great pies so there could be a shout, and its only a few mins walk from the bus station

Andrew Gillespie butchers on Great Western Road, it's two minutes walk from Anniesland train station and fab!

Blackadders Butchers on Maryhill road near Shiskin drive does a great square sausage. I bought a block on Thu, cost £7.90. We cut it ourselves & get 34 slice from it.
They also do a savoury one & a spicy one, not tried those so not sure how they taste.

I don't know if it is still there but John Anderson's grocery shop in Taylor Street, very close to the bus station, at the foot of the tower block used to make an old recipe sausage inherited from his father who had a shop in Parliamentary Road, which no longer exists.

Warnocks butchers make the best square slice, my family, and I mean kids, aunt's, uncles, brothers, won't eat any others! There's 3 different shops, one just off Main Street, Rutherglen is the one that's always opened. Bit late now I know, but just in case anyone's still looking

UPDATE....thanks for all the suggestions...will have to keep them 'til next time though, 'cos a certain person' didn't get back into Glasgow until all the shops were closing!!:sad:

chapmans of wishaw north lanarkshire makes the best in scotland he has won more awards than i have hot dinners lol. once a month we stock up on all butcher meat 300 pounds worth of stuff well worth it great butcher .:beer:
