help needed possible fraud

my husband has just recieved a letter which is a first notice for a loan for £112 from quick quid. he has apparently borrowed £112 on a payday loan (he hasn't) and now has overdue payments.

omg what how has this happend. its in his full name and has his date of birth and our old address. it was taken on out on the internet.

I have searched on credit expert and there is no record of anything.

this is awful. I'm just glad its for £112 and not more:eek:

what should we do?

Check out CIFAS and get protective registration to prevent any further problems.

Write (rather than phone or e-mail) to Quickquid stating this is not his debt.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Is it possible that your husband is lying about this? Please be 100% sure that this is definitely fraudulent before taking any action...

Police will do nothing barr say it is a civil matter he needs to contact the loan company report it as fraud and await there investigation, advise the bank that you have this situation and that the loan company are not allowed to withdraw any funds from it.

I wouldnt bother with the Police or fraud line to be honest as they are all quite useless in these situations.

Dont bother writing to the Address in London as it is just a UK base and not checked, if you ring them on the number then you can request the cost of calls to be reimbursed, I suggest you email and leave a contact number on the email and report as a fraud they will take approx 24-48 hours to ring you and discuss the details.
  • quick Quid do not use experian, they use Call credit.

He will probably have a default on there.

You can get the £2 statutory report online and view online.

You can submit a complaint to QQ via the email address on the website.

Maybe no default yet, but the account will probably be on there, depends how many loans have been taken out in his name.

  • This was one of the companies (amongst many others) that I had the problems of fraud with. My police investigation is still ongoing (in my case the fraud was over 50k) and the Quickquid was for £400. The police are really finding it hard dealing with this company as apparently, they tell me they are American and do not have the same rules and regulations in respect of replying to the Police as UK companies do. I also had a futher £400 transaction through a company called Casheuronet - I believe this is the same company.

The first I knew about it was when I started receiving letters from 1st credit (who I now know to be debt collectors for Quickquid). On further investigation, it came to light that the fraudster had used an e-mail address that was nothing to do with me (it was an AOL e-mail which are another American company with another set of problems during the investigation) and a telephone number that was nothing to do with me.

The Police have been investigating my case since April and it's still on going. Good luck with your case. I hope it gets sorted for you.
