Changing jobs

What challenges have you faced when switching jobs?

I'm particularly interested when you have moved to a similar role and found it difficult to adapt, whether if be down to different systems, different management styles, different environments.

I went from working in small companies (5-20 people) to a corporate.
Managing new systems was easy as I have experience in many and particularly adaptable in this respect.
What was difficult was not being in charge, I had to bite my tongue a lot. Also, I wanted to just keep my head down and do a good job, and was criticised for not 'being perceived' (?) The politics and warring managers where more than I expected and I was naive here, I also learned to keep away from the HR department. Politics central! I am now moving too a small division of another corporate, which I hope will be just right.
This will also be my third different industry, but if you do plenty of research with an open mind it's very doable.

I've always worked in small companies but (fingers crossed) am partway through getting a job with a big corporate. I am quite looking forward to the new challenges - the small company I currently work for has a lot of petty infighting amongst the boss and his cohorts and to be quite honest I'd be glad to see the back of the place.
Got final interview on Monday so hope nerves don't get the better of me!

Best of luck! I also didn't find the corporate as scary as I thought it would be, was always told I wouldn't fit in :)
