anything. Voluntary just means you're not getting paid to do it; you could be a voluntary accounts assistant, a voluntary Director of Public Relations for an international media company, a voluntary shop keeper at your corner shop etc.0

What type of work are you looking for? Try and do some voluntary work in that area.0

try your local CVS (community volunteer service) centre, they are dotted around the country and have many different types of volunteering. My daughter recently joined them and is starting volunteer work at a sensory ctr dealing with blind/deaf people, she's learnt BSL already, but there are many avenues you can go down, healthcare line, animal care etc etc. You could also check with your local council as many have volunteer info on their websites.0

What skills can you bring to the table? Whats available is very much dependant on you.
I've had a few charities contact me with seriously good opportunities, however they are for specific roles and are quite contentious/ distressing in nature.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

I started as a volunteer with the charity I work for and now I'm paid. If you put everything you've got into it the rewards are great. Even if you don't get a paid job make sure you take up all their offers of free training, go to all of the committee meetings, volunteer for extra things like if they have fundraising events on. They will give you a glowing reference when you need it to get paid work. It's also a good way of getting into a particular field of work. I used voluntary work to get into charity administration by volunteering my services for free and then when they saw how good I was they got funding to offer me permanent paid work.0

I use to do voluntary work for victim support and really enjoyed it.
I know with the VS, and i'm sure with other agencies when proper 'paid' vacancies became available , the volunteers would often apply and be at advantage 'cos they were already doing a similar job and the bosses knew how reliable they are.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
