Friday 18th November - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Good morning all! Saw there wasnt a thread running and thought I'd start us off.

I'm in an awful, stinking mood today and yesterday. Feeling rubbish and unhappy. Anyway hope it clears up over the next few days as Im tired of it.

In moneysaving today:
- breakfast at home
- mattatu to work (17p)
- lunch provided by work
- running into town for a meeting and to drop off my passport at lawyers
- maybe motorbike lesson after work if its not raining
- dinner at home from stores - just need to buy eggs
- maybe a free concert tonight in town if I can be bothered - feel like sulking instead really.
- check banking and update budgets

Hope you all have a better day than mine!

Thank you for the thread Nottoobadyet - x

    OK me today

Bleurgh - raining, not the weather I really wanted today - I want to go gardening, which will be paid but not fun in the wet!
    Bank to do
    CC's etc
    Rejig budget again
    Hens fed, collect eggs later
Try and figure a children in need plan - the tv here doesn't work and we always watch it
    A few emails to do
We need milk, but not much else I don't think - fridge full of grub but will raid the freezer
Freeze bolognese which made the ohter day into portions
    DW to empty

I need to rejig my Friday as saturday is now a work day - so must make sure I don't take out a pile of grub to cook, when I won't be here!

Aside that - hmm - get out for a walk and do some work from home or if it clears in garden - either way I can bank a few paid hours today which will be grand.

I hope you have a lovely day - off to check the banks!!!!

my things to do for today are:

    • find passport photos for rail card - i have some at home somewhere and begrudge paying £5 for new ones!
    • dinner from stores
    • banking checked - all as it should be
    • aim for a NSD with the exception of a rail card

    Hello guys!

My first time posting on this thread, but thought I better get involved or I will be skint and miserable forever :rotfl:

So today, I will have a NSD. My boss will be buying me lunch, seeing how I brought us lunch in yesterday (leftover dinner yaaay!)

Will need to put things on ebay tonight. Got several things that will make about £200, so need to DO THIS! This money will pay for christmas presents.

DH has made a huge thick pot of soup, will split that tonight, add more water and it will do us the next few nights dinner. Other half I will freeze tonight for next week

That will be all for today :)
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

Morning everyone. Thanks NTBY for starting the thread

Lunch on expenses today, as I'm working away, but back home tonight.

Need to go shopping for birthday cards and a present, as going to a meal for a friend's 40th tomorrow, then its my sister's birthday in 10 days time.

Aside from that, hoping for a relatively low spend day. Checked banking, and while there were no surprises, it is looking VERY grim, with a week still to go til payday.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all,

Hope you're all well, I'm shocked the thread was started so late today! Where is everyone?

It was my OH's birthday yesterday hence why I didn't make it on, worked out what to get him for xmas now too so hopefully the budget will not fly out of control!

    Today's plan:-

    • [STRIKE]Leftovers for lunch[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Charge phone via pc[/STRIKE]
    • Check for surveys
    • Enter comps
    • Check online banking
    • Check out this weeks flylady thread & do something
    • [STRIKE]Try & keep the heating off for as long as possible[/STRIKE]
    • Use free washing up liquid
    • Package up bridesmaid dress to return (Yup, still not done this :o)
    • Package up some New Look items to return
    • [STRIKE]Trundle back to shopping centre having done some research for best prices, their deal was the best & I can't get it online! Will need to try & talk them into switching a few games out...[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Return something as found it cheaper elsewhere[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Enjoy a meal out tonight (all you can eat for less than a tenner, yay) for a friend's 40th[/STRIKE]
    • Stick to the £20.00 booze limit, & either walk/bus in rather than use expensive taxi's
Have a great, MSE day everyone x

welcome zepsgal  good to have you involved! :) (we do seem to be having a surge of new posters recently which is lovely! You have inspired me re the pea soup, might try to make some myself over the next few days - no room in the freezer at the moment though!

Morning Karb  I feel your pain re the bank situ. I was in the exact same situ last week - but its amazing when you don't have any spare cash how little you spend! A week before payday I  and then a couple of days before when bank acc had stayed the same it didn't seem too bad!

Hello to everyone. Hope you are all ok & have that TFIF feeling :p I was signed off of work for 3 weeks yesterday  cannot believe the gp thinks I need that much time. Trying not to freak out about it!

(very) small things for the day:
    *[STRIKE] checked banking x 2 [/STRIKE]- payday :j
    * [STRIKE]complete job application[/STRIKE] - I have until 2 to do this & only saw it yesterday, am determined to get an interview for this position. I think its right up my street, working for a housing association (what I do currently) helping tenants redcue their debt - what I do in my spare time! just finishes with 7 mins to spare :T
    * [STRIKE]chilli out of freezer for dinner tonight[/STRIKE]
    * go for a run
    * VSP & update sig
    * resisted buying the size 10 jeans in Fcuk (that fitted like a dream :j)
    * bought toilet roll from £shop while in town
    * had a squirt of lady million while in town
    * bought a pack of bacon bits from the butchers for £1.59 which will do 2 meals for the 3 of us ;)

Ok if I get these things done them I will be extremely happy with myself! Love to you all x
