Corsa won't start - please help

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can help with what I think may be a big problem:-

About a month ago my dad left the lights on overnight on his 2007 Corsa 1.4 SXI. When he went to start it the following morning the battery was flat as a pancake obviously. Unfortunately, he then became poorly and the car has sat on his drive ever since with a flat battery.

He has since passed away and I am trying to sell the car for my mum. I have tried to jump start it from my own car (Peugeot 307 1.6 if that makes any difference) using heavy duty leads and although the radio and headlights are working, I can't get the engine to turn over.

I had another go tonight without success but I've now noticed that there is a warning light flashing which I think is the control indicator for the immobiliser.

Not sure what to do as we don't have the money to spend on an expensive repair. I am in the AA and thought about calling them out but I don't have Homestart included (although the car is at my mums address not mine).

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Carole

The battery will be goosed if it has been left in a state of discharge, you could try charging it off the car, but you will be lucky if it holds charge and starts.
The immobiliser will need a good battery and the key to be re synced to the car, in vauxhalls you turn the key to ignition and hold the lock button for ten seconds, the doors should lock, then unlock them, take the key out and put it back in and now try to start the engine, it will sync they key with the car.

Thanks Vax, I'll give it a go.
