Looking for a start in the Audio Visual industry!

Hi All,

I'm looking for an employer who is after an apprentice/trainee to learn the tricks and trades of the Audio Visual world. I am looking to get in to Home Cinema installation but I'm currently working a boring 9-5 office job. I have a real passion for technology and I'm always tinkering around with something technological, but I now want it to be my career. Because I work in an office, does not mean I am shy of manual work whatsoever. I am extremely eager to learn and I will happily to do whatever is required of me, just so I can get a foothold in a career I have wanted to get in to for several years now.

I am 21, I live in South East London, I currently work in a Payroll department for a Consumer Organisation (Sorry, I don't want to name any names!) and have done so for the last 3 years. I have a full clean driving licence and access to a car and absolutely happy to travel to any destination required. I am not blowing my own trumpet, but I am technologically minded and would pick things up in this industry very quickly, as I said, I am very keen to learn. And yes, I make a cracking cup of tea. With biscuits.

I am hoping there is an employer out there who will see this message and needs an extra pair of helping hands to aid their workload.

I look forward to hearing from somebody soon!

Thanks,

Martin.

research some companies and write to them. Try the hotel (conference ) industry. If you dont know where to start, ring the best hotels near you who would offer conferencing and ask them who they partner with for AV( Or do they do it themselves). Get on Linkedin and try and make connections if possible. Tinkering worries the heck out of me though. THere is nothing worse than someone with a little bit of knowledge, they can often be more dangerous than someone with none at all....think about what professional skills and experience are required and align your development to those skills..hope that helps a little.
