Smeg fridge worth the money or just posie?

Need a biggere frideg and love the shape of the smeg ones but they are about £200 more than other lader frideges, Are they worth the extra for pose factor and build quality?

I personally think they're a bit swanky. I've never seen any difference in build/brand quality between Smeg, Hotpoint, Zanussi, Miele or any of the brands ranging from cheap to expensive.

Choose one of the larder fridges at the lower end of the price scale (the one £200 cheaper than the Smeg), and compare reviews on somewhere like ciao.co.uk to see if there truly is any difference.
  • My dad works for a large kitchen company, they refuse to sell them as too much goes wrong with them. And the freezer space is tiny!
    They do look lovely though.

I have an oven, hob and dishwasher- the only thing that hasnt gone wrong is the oven- the dishwasher is the worst I've ever used and the results very dissapointing. The hob was faulty from the factory (the main gas line in it had a hole in).

They may look nice, but I'd rather buy german.......

    DON'T BUY SMEG!

i'm in a rented house and the smeg fridge is a nightmare - the shelves on the inside door break all the time and it's really hard to get it cold without the back wall being freezing and having food stick to it. really messes up any veg in there! the freezer door isn't airtight and so the freezer regularly freezes up and then ice melts and drips and the whole fridge gets wet.

if i was buying for myself i would never ever get a smeg fridge (the smeg oven is fantastic though - it's just the fridge that drives us insane!)

  • Try googling for "Goronje fridge". They make them for Smeg and I think they are cheaper.
