    Although I'm inclined to agree with avelte - it might be worth pointing out that goose was eaten as a Christmas dish before turkey even entered the UK.

    Nowadays you would instantly think "turkey" as the traditional dish but there were no turkeys in Britain until the sixteenth century.

    Bit of a tricky one :( Your average Tudor festive meal would be peacock, boar and goose.
