Where to get wooden flooring?

Ok thanks to replies from my previous post I've got my new fireplace sorted. Now I need recommendations for suppliers of good solid wood white oak flooring.
I've been to Woodfloor Warehouse, Floors 2 go, Floors direct and the Wooden Floor company but my heads pickled with the different prices for what seems to me to be the same type of product and don't get me started on the variation in the fitting costs quoted to me.
So if anyone has any personal experience, good or bad, of either local or internet suppliers could you please let me know.

Flooring Inspirations, 121A High Street Bangor, did an excellent solid wood flooring job for us, at a reasonable price. Ask for George.0

The Floor Depot
254a, Frosses Rd, Cloughmills, Ballymena, County Antrim BT44 9NF
tel: 028 2763 7979
open 10am-6pm Monday to Saturday.
We bought solid white oak flooring recently ourselves, phoned round alot of places and drove round at least 10 different places based in Ballymena, Newtownabbey, Belfast, Coalisland and Cloughmills.
We found The Floor Depot the best in terms of value, knowledge, friendliness and you can haggle with them a bit if you pay cash. They threw in a skotia for the fireplace, a door bar and delivery all for free. Also knocked off about 5% of the cost of the flooring and glue. That was all on top of their sales price.
They can supply solid white oak flooring for as cheap as £22 a square metre right up to as much as you are willing to pay.
They also have a fitter that is very fussy and does an excellent job. Although only going by what they told me, but seemed genuine. He wasn't available for 6 weeks so must be good!
Best to stay away from the likes of B&Q, Homebase, Floors to Go etc as sometimes their flooring isn't 'milled' properly, widths can vary slightly and they are not properly lacquered or designed to minimise wood expansion/contraction.
Let me know if you pay a visit!0 -
We live in Lisburn but don't mind driving around looking as I want to be sure we get a good job which isn't exorbitant.
Does anyone know what is the best finish to get i.e. oiled or lacquered or is it just a matter of personal taste? And if it is lacquered how many coats should it have? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
