Interview cancelled after I purchased a rail ticket..

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend an interview for a training scheme with the National Skills Academy due to be held yesterday. I waited for confirmation of times before booking my train to London and had to choose Advance non-refundable tickets so that I would be within the £50 reimbursable limit stipulated by the NSA. Lunch time on Monday (the day before) I received an unapologetic email saying I need no longer attend and that was that. When I called to enquire about refunding the ticket, they said there was nothing they could do.

Is there any way I could get the £30 fare refunded? I feel slightly put out that I wasn't contacted by telephone so I guess the bright side is that I at least checked my mail in time and didn't end up in London with nowhere to go.

Write to them, include a photo copy of your train ticket, keep a copy and send it registered.
