Cheese& pot pie..can i freeze?

Sorry that this is a bit of a 'thick' question, but i'm sure someone will help me.

Can i freeze a cheese & potatoes pie and if so how do i re heat it, how long for & which gas mark? The pie is in approx 8 inch pie dish.

I never make things in bulk because i don't know how to reheat...can anyone help me?

Yes. I blind bake the pastry first then fill with mashed potatoe & cheese. ( I usually then brown in the oven for 20 mins but assumed this bit wasn't reqd if i freeze then re heat ).

Its gorgeous with pastry! We eat it with sausages & beans...yum yum (not too healty though but a little bit of what you fancy does you good)
  • I make homemade cheese and onion pie and have no problem freezing them. I just take them out, let them thaw and bake at about 200C until it's golden brown. I don't cook my pastry before I freeze it so it takes about 45mins to an hour, but as you're just warming the filling then I'd guess about half that?

Gas mark I'm not sure about ... probably 5 or 6?

Make shortcrust pastry and cover the bottem of a pie dish. Bake blind for 15-20 mins gas mark 5-6. Meanwhile boil enough potatoes to fill pie dish. When cooked, mash potatoes with a little milk and then mix with grated cheese to make cheesy-mash. Then fill pastry with cheesy potato, covering all pastry. Bake for 20 mins until top is a little bit brown.

Serve with baked beans and a couple of lovely brown sauages....it is gorgous and cheap!
