What to ask the venue?

I am getting married at Edinburgh Zoo next year and we are in the slightly unusual position of having booked the venue before seeing it. We have visited the zoo before but not been in the house where we are getting married (we live in London so it is not like we could just pop to see it but we know it is the perfect venue for us).

We are going to the zoo on monday to meet with our wedding co-ordinator and look round the house. I am just wondering what sort of questions we should ask? We have agreed the price etc already so I am thinking more from a practical side of how the day will run I guess. I've only ever been to two weddings before, one when I was 10 and one as a teenager which was in a church followed by reception at golf club so nothing like ours.

Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated :)

  • Erm I suppose you should ask what's included in the price; can you bring your own alcohol and what is the corkage; if you want to provide some of your own food for the buffet if that's allowed but more importantly.......what animals can you get your photo taken with?! :)
That'll be such a cool place to get married, I was at that zoo earlier this year and it's great.

    I would maybe ask -

    Timings for the day
What EXACTLY is included in the price
    Minimum/maximum numbers allowed
What decorations are permitted (some venues have rules about candles etc.)
Transport at the end of the night (Do they have a preferential rate with a coach company or taxi firm)
What time you will have access to the venue on the day
    Is a toast master included
Do they have a PA system for ceremony music if you are having a CD
Is there a secure room you can leave gifts or personal items
Where are the best spots for photos if the weather is bad (but hopefully it will be glorious sunshine! :) )
When do you have to drop decorations off for set up and when do you have to pick them up after

Uuuuuummmmm.....I think that's all for now! Haha! :)

Sounds amazing! My wedding is in Scotland too so it's nice to hear from another Scottish bride! :) Let us know how you got on!
