Loan amount dispute.....

I dont know if this is the right section, so please bare with me.
I had a loan with NRAM that went into difficulties so was passed to a DCA.
I then reclaimed the PPI on the loan as it had been mis-sold (single payment ppi to cover 10 year loan - only covers 5 years).
I then received a letter from NRAM advising me that the loan had been re-started with a new account number, and expecting me to start making the payments again.
Is this right? They knew that I was in difficulties previously and was in an arrangement with the DCA to make payments, which I was doing. I didnt ask for the loan to be re-started, plus I'd also had a default recorded against me anyway.
Also, in March 2009 I had a settlement figure of just under £10k, and I was making regular loan payments until I think May 2010 (loan payments were £335 a month) so the settlement amount would've been slightly less than the one I received in 2009. However, NRAM are claiming that I owe them over £17500 (I am assuming that they have added the interest onto this?). Is there anything that I can do regarding this, as it seems a little unfair to do this imo? Unless I am wrong of course?
Any help on this would be appreciated, as I seem to be getting no-where fast, and is causing me alot of worry
.
Thanks.

Well, I've finally found someone at NRAM who know what they were talking about!
However this raises another query for another post..
I now only owe £8281.00, not £17651.00 as originally believed!
