Help with a Tax Rebate....

I was recently packing for moving house when i came across a folder full of old payslips and noticed i have paid alot of tax for what i was earning. Im sure i was on emergency tax at some point after starting a new job also.

Im dont really have the time at the minute with moving etc to claim it back myself and have afound a site called taxrefunds.co.uk and was wondering if anyone has used this before?

  • Claiming your tax back is the easiest thing in the world! Do not let these people take a penny of your hard earned cash! All you need to do is send the tax office either your P60 for the year in question, or your final payslip along with an explanatory letter, although it would be best to check this by calling them before you send anything off. There's an MSE fact Sheet on it here. Honestly, by the time you send these shysters your info, you would've been better sending it straight to the tax office and getting 100% of what your owed :) Good Luck!

Thanks for that, although i have got a lot of payslips there are alot missing aswell as the p60's, i think i have one. Is there anywhere i can request these from (tax office im guessing?)

Thats why i thought of using one of these companies, it sounds like they would do all of this? But if its as easy as you say its something id prefer to do myself...

All you have to do is give the tax office a ring to start with,

You say OLD payslips, what year are you talking about.

There are countless threads on here regarding these types of company - the common answer is 'avoid at all costs!'

You are running out of time for PAYE claims for both 05-06 / 06-07 and 07-08 (as they're consolidating the timeframe from early 2012) :

P60s are of more use than payslips? And you contact HMRC with the para above the link I've provided.

Or post your P60 data (gross pay / tax deducted / year / Code number) on here and someone will check it. Or DIY here - but get the right year from the drop down :
