Ridiculous Charges
Comments
-
1) they dont even send letters, just an email
2) they dont have a contact number, you just correspond via email.
Okay, cheers, I haven't had the 'pleasure' of using these so I'm not sure, although I'm not altogether surprised that that is the case.
Having said that, being email - which is no doubt automated - makes the charges (and their frequency) even more scandalous, IMHO.“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0 -
I normally have little sympathy for those who don't pay back as agreed, but those charges are ridiculous, even if they are in any T&C's they are challengeable IMO.
You have a few options.
1/ Pay up and be done with it.
2/ Contact them, try to come to some compromise, maybe agree the first charge only and get it in writing if they agree.
3/ If they don't agree, do what ihateyes said and tell them that you are going to challenge them via the Financial Ombusman as the charges are ridiculous and the charges must be reasonable and they most certainly are not.
I would most certainly consider changing bank accounts now, unless you do option 1 to prevent them taking money willy nilly as they say.
Even if they agree to a compromise (option 2), they could still well end up taking more as has happened with many people when dealing with payday loan companies.
The only way of making sure they can't take more is to leave enough for the compromise amount and make sure you have no overdraft facility or monies entering the account, as these companies are well known to try several times daily.
If you get a new account, do not give them the details.0
