When you buy an micro card, dont they always come with the adaptor so you can just use a normal reader anyway?

It does look like it's poor quality! Even one of the positive comments was about how quickly they replaced the dead one!

You can get adaptors for MicroSD to standard SD so you can use an ordinary card reader. One of those may be a better bet. A lot of micro SD cards are sold with the adaptor.

Thanks for this OP. Mine came yesterday and have got my pics and vids off old phone. Have been meaning to get one for ages and I've never got round to it. Found some fab pics of the kids so for 63p I am delighted. The reader itself does feel a bit cheap and I wouldn't imagine it would last very long but as I only needed to use it the once I'm very happy.
And if I really were an angel, I'd float over your bed
Each night a different dream of me I'd plant inside your head
And if I were an angel, I tell you what I'd do
I'd appear in a vision and I'd give my wings to you
