Hi, I've been reading with interest the various threads on claiming tax relief on business mileage and wonder if it would apply in my circumstances.
I am in the civil service and about to be transfered to another workplace, which is further away than my current office. I will be paid 32p for each additional mile I will have to travel in getting to and from my fixed workplace for a period of 5 years. The 'travel expenses' are paid to me on a monthly basis as an increase to my basic wage. As a result these expenses are subject to income tax & national insurance. I will be doing around 20k miles a year.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
