Spending vs. alcohol

I have been lurking for a while and enjoy reading all the threads but think it is about time I committed to some positive action. My goals are simple: drink less alcohol, spend less money!
I should give some context - I don't binge drink, just enjoy the odd one (too many) with DH in the evening but I also have two gorgeous children and am keen to optimise my health for their future benefit! I have also worked my way out of a rather large amount of debt over the last few years and am keen to keep it that way despite some rather large financial commitments I am about to take (house related). So this is my plan: I will only drink wine on no spend days. This is a win win situation - I can either feel good about abstaining from the booze, or from spending no money. Obviously there will be days that I have to spend - petrol to get to work, weekly shop etc. - but days where with a little effort (packing a lunch, avoiding unnecessary snacks, shopping online..) I can then reward myself with a glass of vino in the evening. (this will have to be planed in advance though as a purchase of wine will disallow me from drinking it on the same day!)
This may be hair brained but I think it is the sort of incentive I need. I will let you know how I get on (if anyone is interested!) x
