  • Mine asks for "birth certificate and current passport are preferred, as well as a proof of your current address (eg bank statement, utility bill, rent card)".

    I can't remember when I last had my birth certificate so had better get looking for it, I was born in Germany (dad was in the forces) so I have a completely different birth certificate from the rest of my family and I don't know how and if I could get a replacement :o On the plus side I have plenty of time to find it :D

    OH was born in 1985 & I was 1986. We just needed passports and one proof of address (I guess you'd need proof of address each if you don't live together), so I was going to use council tax bill but when I dug it out I realised my name is spelt wrong on the bill!! So I took our mortgage statement as well which has both full names & address and they accepted that.

    Our local office accepted cash or cheque - definitely something to ask before though as I know some will only take cash. Incidentally, the cheque still hasn't been cashed and we gave notice two weeks ago...
