We had a customer that put in £30 of 5ps and smaller in our self scan and it broke because it couldn't cope with the huge number of coins.0

we had that many a time, if they'd only approached someone and explained what they wanted to do, if it was quiet we normally exchanged for notes (providing the money was bagged and ready to be weighed) although not £100 worth of pennies. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
a lot of Barclays have the machines tooMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
you could go to your bank and ask for money bags, then sort it out yourself. take it into bank - then find the cashier says 'we arent taking any more 1ps, 2ps, 5ps, 10ps or 20ps!
I just went round and filled in a paying in form and paid it into my account (the cashier was fuming - but couldnt refuse) then went to the cashpoint and took it all out again!
I prefer now to just pay up at coinstar! less hassle and by the time I pay bus fare to go to the bank and get the bags then return and pay it in - its cheaper anyway!0 -
Do you have a set of digital kitchen scales ? When I last sorted a lot of loose change I counted out each denomination once and weighed the bag then just bagged the remaining coins by weight which took hardley anytime, I then took to our local post office who took them happily, I have also in the past took a couple of bags to local papershop. HTH:)0

I put coins in a jar for saving for treats for myself this way too. I normally bag it up and take it to the bank, I changed up a mixture of 20p, 50p, 10p and 5p coins to the value of £100 no problem once, though normally it's £50 or less at a time. My bank doesn't moan, but they do sometimes try and sell me something! There is actually one staff member there who doesn't say anything to me whatever I go in there for (paying in cheques, not just changing money up!) which is a bit strange...... I like to go to my small branch near me, rather than having loads of people start huffing behind me in the large branch in town

If they do start moaning I'll just go to my lovely friendly PO down the road from them, I'll go at a quiet time though!!0 -
Isn't part of the benefit of having coins in the counting of them? I used to do and it always calmed me down. I find it a very relaxing hobby.

Just think if Mr T did take all those coins, you would be walking in with more bags than coming out, !!! LOL0

Not at the price Mr T charges lol (big price drop yeah right lol)
I went into my local RBS and asked if i could pay a bill or pay in my 1ps/2ps and they said yes, They dont mind as long as its bagged etc. If it is busy they may say just leave them and they will do them when not busy and call you. I have had no issues paying them into my account. I paid part of my credit card bill with £2 worth of 2ps and they were fine
