Why is it a struggle?

I'm in arrangements with most of my creditors right now, a few are on going as they're being awkard.
But why am I finding it a struggle? I hate being in debt, and even though I'm "managing it", it still weighs on my mind massively. I'm struggling to stick to budgets too, though this last month has been unusual in that I've had some un-expected expenses to pay.
I feel like im failing / have failed. How have others coped when you've felt like this?

Firstly, you're not failing or failed. You are making good decisions about tackling the problem - even though some of the creditors sound like they're being narky.
And, this might sound patronising and I really don't mean it to, I try and look at the bigger picture and focus in on what we have achieved rather than what we've still got to do. So, our debt has been shrinking for nearly a year now, we're making the payments and, one day, this stinking rotten albatross will be off my neck!
There's always going to be down days, jsut try and see them as just that and focus on the bigger picture.
Don't sweat the small stuff and don't fret about stuff you can't change

It's a struggle because I guess things (figures) have been allowed to escalate out of control? However, be glad you are now tackling it head one, and that continuing as you are will one day see the most almighty relief.
As you are doing, arrange payments as best you can (with third-party help if necessary), and weight payments towards the biggest debts with most interest. Have you also looked into getting interest frozen, balance transfers etc.?
Good luck, and however dark it is now, just keep thinking you're on the way to the light at the end of that tunnel.“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0 -
Thanks Saac, and yes the debt is going down, but I only pay around £45 a month off the debts, which at that rate is going to take nearly 94 years to pay off. I dont expect I'll live to 134 years of age lol.
6 years ago I was in debt, but I had something to show for it (house). Now I have nothing and this big weight on my shoulders. I hate myself for letting myself get to this level of debt. I struggle to stick to food budgets etc which doesnt help. I just dont see a light at the end of the tunnel and cant even predict a DFD.As at End of June 2014

All interest is frozen, though NRAM seem to have lumped all of the interest on my debt so I am having to dispute that.As at End of June 2014

I will post my list up soon as I haven't done it yet...
But you are not failing. It is a struggle and we have all been there (are there) and we will get out of it. No matter how long it takes.Debt free as of 7.20am on 31st December 2012.
Wow. Feels great :j :beer:0 -
Sometimes people forget that the cost of living is going up - and subsequently get fed up and demoralised when everything is such a struggle.
Re-do your SOA and send it to your creditors and asked to be re-assesssed. We were at this point where everything had gone up - gas, electric, rates etc and we were in danger of going further into debt.
So what if it takes longer to pay your debts off? You can only do so much!!
Further on down the line when a debt or two is paid off you can snowball or you may be in the lucky position of being able to do a full and final settlement on a debt or two.
Dont let it grind you down and remember to treat yourself once in a while even it's only a take away meal. Life is for living after all you are a long time dead!!
