Admin interview coming up

I know there is plenty of info online and i am using this to help me prepare (before anyone suggests this), but i still wanted to ask peoples experiences of interviews for admin positions?

I dont know whether its going to be competency based, but im guessing it will atleast include a few competency questions.

Can anyone tell me about their admin interviews?

Thanks in advance

  • It depends really on the role, interviewer and the company. All companies have different ways of interviewing.

For admin roles I have had the competency based interview to the informal 'just have a chat' type of interview. No two interviews I have been to have ever been the same and that goes for roles available in the same company.

Just make sure that you research the company as much as you can, you know what the job entails by reading the job description. Have a list of prepared questions and try to think of some examples of things you have done, you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.
    good luck!
  • Thanks very much for your input ^

As Magenta22 said it can vary greatly.
If I have been asked to do competency it has been a small spelling test and basic maths test. It's amazing how many admin people can't spell! And maths does come in useful if using spreadsheets as it helps to be able to check any formula's are correct and working as they should.
Most questions I asked were related to tasks I carried out which were similar to tasks for the job I was applying for.
