Hello,

I have just applied for a job at Asda (think it is on checkouts but Christmas temp so no sure) Does anyone know what they pay per hour - applied via JobCentrePlus which just said "meets national min wage" - I am on min wage at the moment and thought that maybe someone like Asda might pay a bit more?

I doubt it will be anymore than the minimum wage as Asda rely on a part time non unionised workforce.

Thankw. My son works for Macdonalds and he has always been paid more than min wage - thought as both US companies might make a difference?

If they say meets national minimum wage then that's what you'll get.

That's not strictly true there are jobs on there that pay more.

Meets minimum wage is just a standard setting.

Asda tend to pay a little over NWM and under 18's are paid the same rate as the adults.
(Looking at my research yesterday for the same question!)

For the first twelve weeks (probation or seasonal contract) last year they were paying £6.1588 per hour. After 12 weeks I think it went up to £6.28 for day shift.
