Taking further action on internet sites?

Options
Hi,

I have purchased a product from the website https://www.datakits.co.uk for over £100.

I recieved an email that they had sent the product the next day and they have taken my money. I still haven't received anything 3 weeks later. I have sent 2 emails, to their sales department with no replies, their only phone number is a FULL answer machine mailbox. And I have also sent a letter of complaint to the address on the site. i still haven't heard back from anyway?

Is there anything else I can do to try and contact this company to get my money back?

regards

Tim

If you do a WHOIS of the website it comes up with the registrants address and you could maybe send a letter to them.
just go to http://www.whois.net and enter the website address

And if you can get hold of their address (and it's in the UK) contact their local trading standards office.
  • I actually had to go to trading standards for 1 company, who said they had sent the item out.

In the end i spoke to someone from trading standards and they told me to write a letter stating you are making time of the essence and you either want the product or a full refund within the next 7 working days. you must send it via recorded delivery.

If i was you i would contact trading standards see what they say, then if the company dont do it trading standards will fight it for you.

You will need to show your Credit Card Company evidence you have sent emails ect. so save evrythink.

Hope there is some advice in here for you !!

  • contact your credit card company & tell them you have already contacted the company to no avail & that you havnt received your good. They will do whats called a charge back & you should get your money back. I had a similar problem with a ligit company, they kept saying I would get a refund but after waiting 3 weeks I sent them a letter stating I had contacted my credit card & trading standards. I got a refund the next day.
  • Thanks for the advice.

I paid with a debit card for this and not a credit card which would have been easier to claim back I imagine.

I wrote a letter to their office which is based in brighton asking for my money back. I think I will give them a few more days to reply before taking anymore action.

It's just that I havent had any response at all from the company, just automated emails that is so frustrating after so long.

I suppose the next step is to contact their local trading standards, unless I can claim on my debit card?

    thanks again

Paying by Debit card does not offer you the protection that paying by Credit card does....think you'll be hard pushed to get a refund from the Bank.

the website says the office is in southsea Hants
  • oh yeah, I did send the complaint to the SouthSea address. (dunno where i got brighton from? :-) )
  • At last! - problem solved.

I received an email back on monday just stating RESENT. Then got another email later on monday, just saying sorry, it has been sent again and you will receive it by wednesday.

The product has arrived at last on wednesday! - and works fine.

Looks like they got my letter, and replied because of that. The fact it took 3 weeks for them to reply just shows how rubbish there customer service is.

At least i got my product, but wont be shopping there again, and think i'll use my credit card online from now on :-)
