Well as people have said, it's either go for the short-term option and get some bar/ eaterie type work which will bring in some cash, or go and study. You might not see the beneft for years depending on what sort of course you do, but if you think about it and pick an area of study that has prospects, then it will be worthwhile. Friend of mine worked in admin, realised she was always going to be working in dead end jobs unless she moved up a gear, took an MBA and then something in fashion and she's earning a good chunk of money now. Fair play to her!
If you don't know what to do career wise, then there are plenty of books out there which might help, or go and see a career advisor. I wnet to see one and it was really useful.0 -
Don't fancy bar work or being a waiter...I drive but there is no demand what so ever for drivers round here. Ideally I'm looking for ways to get my name out there as far as building goes and take on a little part time business to go along side it...just no idea what! I'd love to be a courier at nights and a weekend...not sure how to go about it though.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Building < This is easy! You must understand there is NO such things as easy money........you need to be pro-active.
There are sooo many building firms about, however what you will find is most people lack TRUST in this industry, all my work, friends work and family's work has been done be recommendations. They are not large multinational builders but there work is fantastic.
Design yourself some general flyers/cards - pass them round to selective people of course (friends/family etc) start small and so long as you do a good job watch the snowball grow. You will get the odd simple jobs (£20 here and there) but it will build as your reputation does.
You have to....
- WANT IT
- GO GET IT
- WANT IT TO WORK
- PASSIONATE
My friend has is own aircon company, a very difficult and competitive industry. He sold his business Sept last year for £2.3million. He has 5 GCSE's but more drive/determination than a imagine. Not the cheapest person to use, not expensive but his quality of work is what made his business the sucess. Google any business, look how many companies have bad reviews, shocking!
Make someone happy < they will be your customer for life......
Make someone unhappy < You will loooose 10 times as many customers.....0 -
Well its ok for summer but winter it slows right down...can't build below 2 degrees and dark until 8 in morning and then only get daylight until 4 oclock. Can't up my hours at work as I'm on price, make 2 Mich and pro es get cut plus could do myself out of a job. Going to look into getting flyers. Put them out now and hope I can fill my summer with 7 day weeks and nights. Always busy and money coming out my lugs Haha. Will think about what inside jobs I can do, framing or laying glasswool etc.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Always busy and money coming out my lugs < So, if you have overflow of cash, whhat exactly are you wanting/loooking to achieve?
If it's just filling time, then personally you need to find a hobby, something more social.........the list is endless.
Example, I learnt to ice skate, and play ice hockey when I can (was for fun, best thing I ever done) learnt to play guitar, did cookery class.....I can go on and on. May not be career developing, but as a person made a big difference to me.
Workwise < winter does effect the building, but be pro-active - flooring, decorating, shelving, general DIY < Think more handy man. There are still a massive amount of people who can't hang wallpaper, can't put up shelves (properly) start simple
Flyer you area/town < too early 90% will end up in the bin!! You will waste time/money
Someone told me "Adapt to situations/problems - complaining and excuses is YOU looking for a reason NOT to do it"0 -
How about trying your hand at carpentry? Making small childrens toys, jewellery boxes, chairs/tables? That would fit in with your trade I guess, but also could be fun? You still haven't said what interests you, until you find something that does then we can suggest everything under the sun but won't come any closer to helpingDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Its all to work towards house deposit and getting my own place then soon my nights can be filled with sorting it out and keeping it upto scratch. Money interests me. I love earning it, looking at accounts, doing budgets etc etc. I dont know what else to say to what interests me...love finances and my job. Lots of overtime links the 2 of them.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

I dont know what else to say to what interests me...love finances and my job - well you need to be more specific or just be more pro-active about your job.....find a balance.
Is extra work (own thing) going to be more profitable than doing overtime - especially if its just money you want.
Your comment "Money interests you" Only advice I can give - find a balance and set a goal/target.......you want to earn/save £x.xx amount
I can assure you money is NOT everything. It helps yes, but money is also the route to evil. You earn £30k, you want £40k......and so on. It does effect you and people about you0
