HI
I could really do with some help as the HRMC rules have confused me again.
I submitted my accounts in Jan 2011 this year for year ending April 2010. for some reason or another I have had to resubmit them using an ixbrl file format.
the helpline is not helpful at all and I am really confused how I convert my file into this format.
can anyone help me please??
Thanks in advance.

It appears to be covered at 'Using HMRC's free software' which is 50% of the way down this link :-
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/ct/ct-online/file-return/online.htm
......... also see the 'Using commercial software' immediately below that.
If all else fails - this link offers commercial conversion - at a price :-

iXBRL filing did not become mandatory until April 2011, therefore if you were filing your CT600 in January 2011 HMRC should have accepted it without requesting it be in XBRL.0

You can only use HMRC's software if your accounts are fairly simple and small (for example you can't if you have audited accounts).......... also see the 'Using commercial software' immediately below that.

There are actually a number of companies that can convert your company accounts to iXBRL for you. All of the 'managed tagging providers' on HMRC's website can provide the service for varying costs:

These vary from companies that just tag accounts to chartered accountants who can do the whole return for you.
If there was no problem with the original return submitted in January 2011 then HMRC should not need to request the iXBRL accounts (although you will need to be prepared next year).0 -
