Donations to charity on MFW path

lol... I'm as organised about my charitable donations as I am about everything else!
I donate well over 1% of my gross earnings, but it's very tax-beneficial for me to do so, so I'm paying a lot to charities while it makes sense to.
I donate to about 5 charities, all ones supporting humans (I refuse to support animal charities as they are so wealthy!! although the cats protection society regularly manage to sucker me somehow  ).
I also make sure they are a spread of charities which reflect my interests - one is an international one, another is a UK one, and another is a London based one, while I also support a sustainable transport charity and I've momentarily forgotten what the fifth is!! Most of the charities are ones which help people help themselves.
Then if there is ever a global emergency I give some money to DEC - there were two appeals this year
But the quid pro quo is I never give anyone pennies when they shake their tins at me, and I have never bought a poppy, and don't often sponsor friends, so people probably think I'm really mean!!!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Amnesty, that's the fifth
The thought of people suffering for their politics really pains me, for some reason. It's so unfair!! Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

£30 monthly to NSPCC, £30 monthly to the Red Cross, at least £20 a month when I get a just giving email from friends. Still feel guilty as I rarely carry cash and can't put anything in tin shaker's tins.
I do have a coin box at work that collects around £5 that I dump in the month end charity collection my company does.06/06/2023 mortgage mort dateJUST BRING IT0 -
I give my time to the local cats protection, to help with fundraising, i get alot back with friendship etc. I give lots of small stuff, money for raffles, prizes, junk for bric a brac, bake cakes, tickets for events etc it all adds up and i feel better than just giving money. The local branch arent rich and just about cover their vet costs each month, only with the fundraising we do. the main bods in HO give money each year for neutering costs but thats about it.
Other than this i sometimes give to guides, scouts and the kids school charity days etc.
Its adds up to quite a bit in the end.0 -

oo, forgot I started this thread - and fascinated by the responses, and the way the vote went. Having had a look around my local area, i have decided focus on donating my time to the lcoal area..not a dig at anyone, and I hope that no one thinks I am having a dig at them...i figure the important thing is to do somethingNo longer an accidental landlord, still a wannabe millionaire:beer:

I sponsor several charities by monthly DD - ones that we can relate to for family or personal reasons. I have previously sponsored charities because I believed in what they were doing rather than felt any connection to them personally. I believe everyone should do something - whether financial or in terms of time - to help others. That may mean helping your neighbour or sponsoring a child in africa. As Mr T says, "every little helps"

We donate £45 per month to 5 charities (2 international and 3 UK based) which reflect the interest of me and OH.
No pet charities in our portfolio.
It is part of the monthly outgoings that we budget for.
When the mortgage is paid off we will donate a bit more and probably give some of our time (which at present is spent earning the money topay off the mortgage) to local charities.
We also make donations for global emergencies too via DEC.
I don't bother with tin-shakers because I rarely carry cash with me.0
