John Lewis January Sales

Does anybody know when the JL January Sales as scheduled to start?

Historically these have started (in store) on the 27th December but realize that its a Bank Holiday this year.

Just brought a new house - and need to fill it! Thanks.

  • My god, that will cost a bomb even in the sale. But I love the John Lewis van coming. Neighbours all looking out of their window. Have just bought a tv from there today. There white good are always competitive, mostly with a 5 year grantee.

Yes, they are a good place to buy things that are widely available elsewhere because that is where the never knowingly undersold works well.

They make money on having more high end and luxury items that are not so widely available in other places.

The never knowingly undersold thing is a con. I recently bought a dress from there that I had seen marked down in another store. They refused to believe it had been marked down and made me trek across town to the other store to get proof from the manager, before they would sell to me at sale price. Worked in my favour though when I bought two more of the same items and then brought them back a week later to swap for vouchers at full price when I 'accidentally' lost the receipt.

What JL did was reasonable - they're right to ask for proof of the lower price elsewhere.

What you did is illegal -fraud - gaining a monetary advantage by deceit.

It's because of people like you that shops don't trust customers and have unreasonable returns policies.
I am an employment solicitor. However, my views should not be taken to be legal advice. It's difficult to give correct opinion based on the information given by posters.

I expect they will be open on the bank holiday (10-5) but don't know about sale dates.
