Stumped

Afternoon Guys!!!

How are we all doing on the Christmas MSE expedition??

I am nearly there and getting very excited!!

There are few things I would like to run by you lovely people.

I have struggling on what to get a few people and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Dad - Got around £30 left to spend (Already bought him and my mum Soldiers tickets) He hasnt really got any hobbies as such. Loves watching movies, drinking good coffee etc so am i little stuck.

Grandad - Got around £50 to spend as I have got him nothing yet. He still works (all the hours god sends!!) and again hasnt really got any hobbies. He likes wine and cheese, so was thinking about doing a hamper, but he doesnt eat alot so most would get thrown in the bin!! I have no clue!

Great Nan - Around £30. Now this is the hardest one, she has just gone into a home after her falling really ill and loosing the use of her legs. She is well off so if she wants anything she will get it (and she does this always before xmas!!) Was thinking about getting her a new dressing gown until she told me that she already has 4!! I mean really. She doesnt do giftsets smellies etc as she ends up giving them away so its a total waste of money!!

Other than those 3 I am nearly finished!! :T

Sorry for the long post guys but any ideas/inspiration would be amazing and would stop me from loosing my hair :j

TIA
Jess

  • I love thinking of presents for difficult people!

For your Dad: does he already have an electric coffee grinder? This is handy if he likes nice coffee but doesn't always use a whole bag. There is a De'Longhi one on Amazon for £23.

I was going to suggest an unusual coffee I'd read about...but from quick look on google, it sells for £50 PER CUP (Kopi Luwak -commonly called 'monkey poo' coffee!)

For you Grandad: do any local shops/colleges/ bars do wine tasting days?

For your Great Nan: my grandparents were in a similar situation & used to buy themselves lots of things before Christmas. They said the best present they ever got was a photo album me and my brother put together.

We got a nice album and filled it chronologically -managed to track down pictures of them with their parents as children -right through to pictures of great-grandchildren/ recent pets. We also put in my grandfathers war medals, old postcards etc to fill in gaps.

Might take a bit of time, but is something she can keep & carry in adding to, as family members grow up.

    Hope this helps!
    Aims (by April 2012)
    1. Pay off credit card
    2. Have SOME savings
    3. Be target weight of 10st 4lbs (mid-range BMI)
    4. Get the hang of SLR photography!

Starting when they were a baby right the way through the years

If your Dad is into films, why not do a movie night hamper/box/bag. We are doing that for FIL got a Clint Eastwood box set, some microwave popcorn, salted and sweet. Managed to get some from home bargains that come with their own popcorn container, just like at the pictures! Just got to get the sweeties and pop now!
