Hi, I've never bought a football shirt before but a friend overseas has asked me to get the current Arsenal shirt for her and I ant to be sure I buy from the right place, the right colour and do not buy a fake.
As you can see I know nothing about this, please can someone point me in the right direction to ensure I buy the right thing for her please.
Thanks.

If you buy it from the official Arsenal site, it will be both up to date and genuine.
The only problem you might have is that teams make a limited number of women's shirts and these usually sell out fast. Last year I couldn't get one anywhere, and had to wait for the new kit release to grab one.
However, with it being close to Christmas they may have made more, and they usually do quite good offers in late November.0 -
Yes the Arsenal shop is probably the easiest place. All football shirts are a bit of a rip off but official club shops don't tend to rip you off much more than high street stores.
The ones you get in most sport major shops tend to be genuine and are around the same kind of price though.0 -
The official Arsenal site charges £45 and £50 for short and long sleeved replica shirts. That's £5 more expensive than the likes of JD Sports and Sports Direct are charging although you are more likely to be able to get a ladies shirt there.

Thank you very much for your help. I was scared I might buy some copy shirt from somewhere like Sport and Soccer and get it all wrong. I need a man's one, not a ladies one as it is a gift for her hubby (sorry) if that makes a difference.
Is there a chance the style will change or will it be the same for the entire season now.
You can tell my knowledge on this is somewhat....... limited..... to say the least. I just head stories of them costing a fortune and changing so often.
Thanks.0 -

They do change every couple of years but the home shirts don't generally change THAT much - its more likely to be the away shirts that change a lot. It doesn't generally matter too much to most people though in my experience.
One thing to note if being totally up to date is important though. This year is Arsenal's 125 anniversary so the current shirt is an anniversary one. Its the badge that is different (its bigger and says 1886 and 2011 on it). Presumably this will change at the end of the season?0 -

It will change for next season, which will start next August, but as previously mentioned not by much. The badge will be a bit different and there is sometimes a layout/very minor colour change.
He'll love it

Thank again everyone. There is a voucher for £5 off on JJB on the vouchers board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3603781 and free collect from store making it £34.99 so am going to go for this option.
You have all been really helpful, thank you. I do live near the Galleria but cannot get there this weekend, nor next, so will stick with the JJB offer this time (by the time I pay for petrol and parking it'll not be much of a saving anyway).0
