pvg scheme advice please

I have an interview for a job at a primary school which requires me to join the PVG scheme if I am successful. I currently have an enhanced disclosure because I volunteer at a different primary school. Am I correct in thinking that I have to join the PVG scheme (and pay £59) because it replaces the enhanced disclosure?
Also I notice on job applications it asks if you are in the PVG scheme...I take it I would say I was not, even though I have the disclosure?
I did try and find out about this online, but I could not decipher the details to find an answer!

You don't pay it is for your employer who pays it. If successful then you usually get a conditional job-offer and that is when PVG will be checked and you can't start work until they get it backLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Thanks Torry. I'm afraid in this instance the employer does state that I would have to pay for it (!), which actually I think is ridiculous. The school I volunteer in at the moment paid for my enhanced disclosure over a year ago quite happily, but it clearly states on the interview documentation that I would have to pay if I got the job.Torry_Quine wrote: »You don't pay it is for your employer who pays it. That's dreadful and doesn't seem right to me. Just make sure you don't pay anything until you get a job offer. :eek:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

There are two types of PVG Scheme Certificates you can get.
1/ If an organisation i.e. the school is requesting it they will get a Scheme Record which includes any previous convictions or information held by the Police. This application requires to be countersigned by a Registered Body (probably your Local Authority)
2/ If they say that you have to do it yourself then you will have to apply for a Scheme Membership Statement which will say whether you are barred from working with children or not. No countersignatory is required.
Either way the cost is £59 but this means that you are a PVG Scheme Member for life and you do not have to go through the disclosure process for each job/role you apply for although any future employrer can ask for a Scheme Update at a cost of £18.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thank you! This does make it all much clearer
