Using family car for work

Can anyone advise please;
i am a self employed sole trading window cleaner whose current car has gone bang.....in the current climate my thought is to use our large family vehicle to carry on my work therefore avoiding the need to borrow money to purchase a new vehicle...
my question is this;can i give the vehicle a value and put it against tax as a write down allowance ,for info i just claim the 40p (now45p)mileage allowance.

Would I be right in guessing that the family car is over 5 years old & pretty well depreciated already?
