Waitrose 3 for 2 not what it appears to be

The first (and only) time this happened to me was actually in Boots about a year ago. I now make sure I always have two separate transactions. This comes up on these boards every now and again, so I think you only get caught once.
I had to do 3 seprate transactions in Mr T's last week, to ensure the same didn't happen to me.0 -
Please complain to your local trading standards. I did and they were supportive. However it is trading standards near Waitrose head office who would enforce any decision and they are not yet convinced. See my post at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/56391395#Comment_563913950

Many people got caught out with this senario, with plants at B 'Q recently.BOGOFF deal..If you bought a load .all the cheapest prices came off at the till.Like x2 £10 plants and x2 £2 plants you would only get £4 off.So I had to do about x4 differant transactions.Technically I thinx Waitrose were right and ts quite logical to realise that the cheapest items will come off in a transaction, but then not all women are logical[joke honest].And I thinx trades desciption is taking it to far.0

A word or two about till programming..
Tesco and Sainsbury's automatically add products to your favourites online if you use your Clubcard/Nectar card instore.
With ASDA you have to key in the till#, till operator #, time and date of transaction and store # online then wait 24hrs for it to update.
If you use your myWaitrose card in store, although it captures details of your shop, it doesn't add them to your favourites online and you can't add the shopping yourself either.0
