Im miserable this year as refuse to spend £35 on a meal!

Christmas can be a tough time of year. The thing is focus on doing the family things and let the rest think what they like.
All the in home stuff sounds like great ideas that keep your loved ones together.
If you do end up going out, as suggested smuggle a spirit out with you.
To make it cheap find an accomplice, buy a pint of soft drink and use it as a mixer
That should last about 4 drinks and cost no more than £3.
A works outing can be cut out by saying a distant relative is visiting, can't be missed. Just make sure its one you speak to and can share some stories when next at work.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
There are 5 people in my team at work and every year my team Leader insists on buying individual gifts (even though she doesn't have 2 pennies to rub together herself).
This year i have insisted we do a 'Secret Santa' and have a £10 limit. Surprisingly she agreed
.
She also wants us to have a team lunch and a few days later wants us to go out for an afternoon drink and she also wants us to go the xmas lunch she has organised for the whole floor .Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -
its certainly an expensive time...im so glad i bought my xmas wrap in the january sales. Im on maternity leave so have a gret excuse to miss parties lol.. i quite happy to snuggle in at home with my bump and hot choccy :-)
Im stocking my cuboards up now, so i have lots of supplies over xmas and january.. january im allways skint (but atleast this time i will have lots of food in).. asdas do such fab deals, im just stocking up big time and keeping my chest freezer full. Also if the snow comes i only have milk and bread to worry about..
I manged to get premier in down by mums for £19.00 a night for the 3 of us.. so im staying 2 nights (bargain!) allready paid for in october..
So many things to get for my sons school at the min, and donations needed for them.
Pulled out all my winter scarfs and gloves etc ready (or i end up buying more lol)...
Gettin most of the baby buys in the january sales..have my basics allready :-)
its definelty a time to watch the pennies, nothing worse than being skint afterwards and seeing all the sale signs is even more depressing lol x0 -
Luckily my firm give us money towards christmas party so will be enjoying this. Unfortunately this year DH firm changing pay from monthly to 4 weekly and also paying almost 2 weeks earlier, so have to make his wage last for 7 weeks! Not the best time of year for them to do this. On the up side have almost finished present shopping.0

I had an idea this year regarding the long wait for January pay day:
I get paid on the 28th normally but in December it'll probably be on the 22/23ish. So I was thinking of moving my wage out of my current account to a savings account when I get it, then moving back in on the 28th so it's like a normal month!
If it's sat there in my current account early I'll probably just spend it so I thought this was a good idea.Grow your own, make do and mend, re-use, re-wear and recycle!
