Littlewoods - Free Money

Hi
Not sure what this is exactly but I got a letter from Littlewoods saying I had won free spending money - Scratch the panel to see how much
Panel A was £1 - £15
Panel B was £15 - £1500
I scratched it and it was Panel B.
Does anybody know what this is? and is it worth me sending back?
I haven't read the letter properly yet, just wondering?

I got one of these, you only 'get' the 'free' money as long as you open an account with Littlewoods, means a credit check, if you're not bothered, go for it.
Hate to say it Panel B probably means £15 off your first order, it's Littlewoods standard promotion wrapped up to look like a prize.

As a 13YO I used to deliver free newspapers that almost every week would have a catalogue leaflet to deliver alongside it. It would almost always be this sort of 'scratch off a panel and see what you have won' type promotion. Deciding to have a go myself I was well pleased to discover I had won £500 by scratching and finding I had an Ace card, giving me all four Aces and therefore winning:beer: . Amazingly my winning streak continued and the next one also said I was a winner...and the next...and the next...and the next...
Con to get you to buy off them! If you want a catalogue with an account and massive interest rate then go for it, if not then bin it!!0 -
To be fair Littlewoods dont charge interest, they do have 2 repayment options that are interest free, or you can pay in full straight away by card.
I have an account, and although they are a bit expensive than the others you get cashback which can make up for this, coupled with discount codes to even out the cost.
People say they have been pulled up on using codes but I have never had this happen to me and I use them quite a lot!
Even if you open one make your first order, get £15 off and then pay it and never use it again you might just get a bargain on something!0 -
It should explain somewhere on the card that this is dependent on you opening an account with them and yes most often than not the £15 is £15 off your first order.
The other amounts do have winners but usually only 1 person wins each one.0 -

Agreed! if you actually look at their prices you'll see that they are often much higher than the High Street or the Internet and that's where they make their money. If I wasn't desperate and had a decent credit rating I'd never use them. Just Paid £115 pound for a 320GB external Hard Drive that I know is only worth about £90 but I get to pay it off interest free over 12 months and they're the only company crazy enough to give me £2000 worth of credit. Thankfully I can control myself, just about. :rotfl:2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51
Total Winnings in 2007 = £136.51 :T
Total Winnings In 2008/2009/2010 = £0
Total Winnings In 2011 = £305.37 (49s Lotto):D
Total Winnings In 2012/13/14/15/16/17/18 = 0
Total Winnings This Year = £0 :mad:0 -
We're Littlewoods account holders but we've only bought one product, a Sony mobile phone which (unusually for Littlewoods) had actually been dscounted to a level that was competitive with others. Factor in the £30-off code we used as a new account sign-up, and the Sony was the best / cheapest price in the UK.
Since then though we've received notifications of this offer or that, and to be honest, it's just not worth it: Littlewoods' "half price" sale prices are mostly only in line with the standard price being charged almost everywhere else.
Littlewoods has to build its overhead in somewhere though, so I don't blame it: offering interest free credit payments is costly, so the facility is useful for many customers (so long as they realise that it isn't really "interest free": the interest is built into the product mark-up. And with an expensive item, it may well be the case that the hidden interest charge is actually so high that buying the item from Littlewoods was definitely Not A Good Idea.)0 -
